The Leave System is the final project for studying the fundamental of database subject (2765232). It was developed from the idea under the COVID-19 situation to support classroom management.
This system helps the teacher to check the absent students in the class and provides a summary of students who didn't attend the class. In addition, it also helps students to request an absence from the class quickly and systematically by sending a medical certificate or a personal letter through this system.
My role in this project is to design the UX/UI, create prototypes, and design the guidebook, while my co-partner is responsible for data analytics and developing the data model using Microsoft Access.
The application flowchart provides an overview of the application and how the data works within it.
Here’s an overview of the prototype for this application. Since users can be either teachers or students, we need to design distinct features and functionalities tailored to each user type.
Teacher Features:
• Teachers can check the timetable or schedule of their classes by linking with the system, displaying a summary of the day and an overview of the week, separated by day.
• In addition to class information, lecturers can access student absence data for selected subjects. The information includes the total number of students in the class, how many students have requested absences, and personal details of the students, including contact information and documents supporting their requests.
Student Features:
• Students can send an absence letter to their lecturers for review and approval.
• They can select the period of absence, and the system will display all subjects scheduled during that time. Students can then choose multiple subjects for which they are requesting permission to be absent.
• Students can provide proof of medical or personal appointments by uploading documents through the application, facilitating electronic management of these documents for both students and lecturers.
• The system offers attendance and missed class information, helping students plan their absences by class and subject, and assisting lecturers in compiling this information at the end of the semester.
